Claire's Visit - Part 2

Claire finally started feeling better and we got to do some fun things throughout the week. We go to a Bible study in San Antonio on Wednesdays, and the week that Claire was here happened to be the last week before we let out for summer.  Kids have to be registered to go, and they are VERY strict on the rules so I thought we were going to have to miss the last week but they ended up letting her come with Tanner, which was really nice.  She did fine in Tanner's class and we took a trip to the park afterward for some playtime and a picnic.

This was the picture that we finally got the day they arrived in town..

The girls had a great time eating cereal WITH MILK (we usually just do dry cereal so this was a treat) a couple of times that week.

My mom bought all of the girls (Sofi and Scarlett included) these matching bathing suits and they were so cute wearing them together.
We celebrated Claire's 2nd birthday while she was here. We took her to Chili's that day and they sang to her at the restaurant.  She still wasn't feeling terrific at this point, but we had fun anyway.

We did this almost every night...

These are a few from the day at the park.

Claire's visit...part 1

We recently got the opportunity to watch my niece, Claire, for a week while Erin and Daniel went to Hawaii.  It was an AWESOME week, because we also got to visit with Erin and Daniel for four days before they left since they flew down early.  They flew down on a Tuesday and left the following Saturday for Hawaii.  We got to have Claire with us for the next 7 days while they were on vacation and we had SO MUCH FUN!!!  Well, that is, after we got done taking Claire to the emergency room and holding her for three days straight....I'll explain.  While Erin and Daniel were here, Claire developed an ear infection in one ear so they took her to the doctor before they left in order to get her started on an antibiotic so she would feel good while they were gone.  The Saturday that they left, we decided to pack a picnic and head to San Antonio after the girls woke up from their naps so we could eat dinner in the park and feed the ducks.  They both fell back asleep in the car, however, so I decided to run a couple of errands until they woke up.  I ran into Old Navy to return something and I got a call from Clinton, who was in the car, wanting me to come outside. I walk out the doors and he is sitting on the bench in front of the store with both girls and vomit down his shirt.  Claire threw up on him!  I felt sooooo bad! I picked her up to comfort her and noticed that she had blood coming out of her ear.  We immediately loaded up and headed to the nearest emergency room.  Right about that time, Erin and Daniel were getting on their connecting flight from LA to Hawaii so they had the opportunity to call. Perfect timing.  I didn't want her to worry but I couldn't not tell her that I was taking her daughter to the hospital.  Anyway, long story a little less long, Claire had an ear infection in the other ear that had gotten pretty bad. They put her on ear drops and a different antibiotic.  She felt pretty crummy for a couple of days but she turned a corner after that and we got to have a lot of fun together.

This was the day that they got to our house. We were trying to get a picture of Claire for a collage I was making for my mom but it wasn't going so well....
One of the days, Haley and Jason came down to swim and the guys took off that evening to go to a San Antonio Missions game. My aunt came down to hang out for a little while, too, and we had a really great time.

Tanner had a great time playing and watching movies in the playroom while she was here.
Tanner got to hold Scarlett while they were here. She was not too thrilled!

We made tons of popcorn during the week that Erin and Daniel were here and while they were on vacation.  I think we were all in vacation mode while Claire was here! Almost every night, we would make popcorn and watch a movie.
We took Erin and Claire to our playgroup one day while they were down at my friend Abby's house.  This was Tanner's first experience driving a motorized vehicle and she actually pinned another kid against the fence! Oops!
We had a little fun one night playing dress-up with some Halloween costumes that my mom had made for us when we were little.  The girls thought they were great!

Erin and Daniel left for Hawaii on Saturday, and the following Sunday was Mother's Day.  We went to Haley and Jason's for our Mother's Day celebration and to attend their baby dedication ceremony at their church for Sofi and Scarlett.
We also celebrated Claire's birthday, which was coming up in a couple of days. She was feeling terrible that day, so I held her all day.  It was special for me because she didn't want anyone but me to hold her.  She didn't even want my mom, which is a huge deal.  Kids always want my mom!

G-Paw tried really hard to cheer her up, and I think he did a pretty good job considering how terrible she was feeling!

Tanner's First Day of School

Tanner has officially started Mother's Day Out! She goes every Tuesday from 9:00am-2:00pm.  It is so hard to believe that she has gotten so big! She is growing up so fast and it makes me so sad to think that the time has already come for her to be "busy" one day a week.   I have panicky visions of dropping her off at kindergarten and leaving her every day! What do moms do when their kids aren't at home all of the time anymore?  I guess I'll have to figure that one out!

Picnic in the park

Later that evening, after Kathryn and Justin went home, we decided to go to San Antonio and have a picnic in the park.  We decided on the park near the Tower of the Americas.  This park had a giant water feature that was fun to look at, but it stunk really bad  We had a good time just hanging out with each other.
This is a nice little trick that her daddy taught her....
She really liked looking at all of the neat fountains.
We ran into a nice lady that had a ton of balloons that she no longer needed and she gave Tanner a bunch.  This is how many we started with...
And just like that we were down to this...
And then we were doing this...
She didn't get upset, though. We thought she would but she thought it was neat to watch it float away.

Visit from Kathryn and Justin

We recently had a visit from our good friends Kathryn, Justin, and their little boy Jackson.  We had a great time hanging out together and swimming.  They are such good friends of ours, and we always have a blast when we are with them.  Haley and Jason came in that Saturday for some fun in the sun and I believe we had all of the kids down for naps at the same time for a bit. What a miracle that was!

Tanner is trying so hard to get in the float...
And she made it!!

Studmuffin!
Scarlett was as happy as she could be in the pack n' play under the tree outside.Jackson's favorite part was splashing in the fountain.
Sorry for the terrible quality of this photo, but that's us with our kiddos.
We made it easy on ourselves that night and had pizza for dinner.
We thought Tanner and Jackson looked so cute in their matching madras shorts
